What to bring and what to expect at your orthopedic consultation.

Schedule appointment ↗Call 303-233-1223

Your first visit includes a discussion of symptoms and goals, a focused examination and review of available imaging.

What to bring

  • Photo identification, insurance card and referral or authorization information if your plan requires it.
  • A current list of prescription medications, supplements, allergies and relevant medical conditions.
  • Prior X-rays, MRI or CT reports and, when available, the actual image files or access information.
  • Records from previous surgeries, injections, physical therapy or treatments related to the problem.
  • A brief description of when symptoms started, what makes them worse, what you have tried and the activities you hope to return to.

What happens during the consultation?

Dr. Haber reviews your history and activity goals, performs a focused examination, studies relevant imaging and discusses potential causes. Depending on the circumstances, next steps may include rehabilitation, additional imaging, medication, an injection or a discussion of surgical treatment. Not every condition requires surgery.

Helpful questions to ask

  • What is the most likely diagnosis, and is anything else causing my symptoms?
  • Which nonsurgical treatments are reasonable for me?
  • If surgery is an option, what problem does it address, what are the risks and what are the alternatives?
  • What restrictions might affect work, driving, school or sports?
  • When should I follow up, and whom do I contact with questions?
